Jennifer NockJennifer Nock, Of Counsel in Renne Public Law Group’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, was tapped by the State Bar of California to train the organization’s supervisors and managers during a series of programs titled “Preventing Harassment for Supervisors and Managers.”

Drawing on recent court opinions, jury verdicts, and guidance from the government agencies charged with enforcing anti-harassment laws, Nock conducted four training sessions in April, two each in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

In addition to covering current legal developments, the training focused particularly on the workplace in light of #MeToo and addressed practical issues surrounding social media.

Attendees reported that through the training, they acquired skills that they could apply immediately to help them in their current roles. Participants also gained a better understanding of relevant law, gender identity/expression issues, and how to continue to promote a positive, work-focused environment without making stereotypical assumptions.

Nock, who leads RPLG’s Workplace Investigations practice, has represented both corporate and public-sector employers in litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, with cases involving claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation, as well as claims of vested rights to pension and retiree health benefits.

This litigation experience has translated into conducting workplace investigations involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, workplace violence, fraud, ethics violations and other alleged employee misconduct. Nock’s practice also includes training individual clients and groups in complying with employment laws, including sexual harassment prevention training mandated by California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (“AB 1825”).

Nock earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. She holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, is a member of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area, and is an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder.
