Experience

Mr. Riddle serves as the City Attorney for the City of Richmond.  In that capacity, he supervises six attorneys.  Mr. Riddle regularly attends city council meetings, and provides advice to the council and city departments on a wide range of municipal law issues.  In addition, he manages litigation and other legal services performed by outside counsel. 

Mr. Riddle possesses a unique combination of government law and election law experience, having served as a San Francisco Deputy City Attorney for 15 years, and as Chief Counsel to the California Secretary of State.  Mr. Riddle has provided advice and litigation representation on matters related to constitutional issues, conflict of interest law and other governmental ethics matters, open government requirements, initiative, referendum and recall petitions, administrative law, the legislative process, the implementation of new voting systems, the Voting Rights Act and the Help America Vote Act.
